ACCJ Disburses ¥24,056,000 in 2009
The Community Service Fund is a Board-run fund with the mission to administer the contributions of the American Chamber members in support of worthy community service projects. These projects include activities of the American business family and youth communities as well as selected Japanese social welfare organizations. The purpose of the grants is to assist in the community service goals of the recipients.
Our guidelines allow the ACCJ to address a variety of needs. Our preference is to assist with:
- Projects that need seed money
- Equipment that could not otherwise be purchased by a nonprofit organization
- Support that creates a lasting impact
- Gifts that generate goodwill for the ACCJ and its members
- Special situations
(View ACCJ's fundraising history.)
One of the primary pillars of the ACCJ's activities is "corporate social responsibility" or "CSR." In addition to having a long-established record of good corporate citizens contributing to the continued growth and prosperity of Japan, our members engage in a broad range of charitable activities on their own and through the ACCJ. Each year, the ACCJ conducts a number of campaigns to support worthwhile organizations that effectively address community needs. It is an ACCJ tradition to provide both Chamber members and their companies an opportunity to take part in the Chamber's efforts to give back to the community. In 2009, the ACCJ disbursed a total of ¥24,056,000 to charities, including (for amounts of ¥1,000,000 and over):
The ACCJ made a significant difference where it was most needed, and we hope we will be able to be even more generous. We therefore urge you to give back to the community by filling out the donor contribution form. Please fill out the form, writing in as generous an amount as you can manage, and return it to the ACCJ office. If you would like to be involved in ACCJ charity efforts or have any questions, please feel free to contact Deputy Executive Director Laura Younger (lyounger@accj.or.jp; (03)-3433-8391).
All of the ACCJ's charitable contributions are audited annually in accordance with the overall audit of ACCJ operations.
