In light of the March 16 filing deadline for Japanese taxes, the ACCJ Taxation Committee is proud to present this annual event, conducted in English, which provides an overview of individual taxation in Japan. This introduction will be helpful to those new to Japan and, for everyone else, is also a great refresher course on the general issues and challenges in meeting individual income tax obligations in Japan.
We will also cover some items of interest to HR and mobility coordinators who may be responsible for assisting their company’s non-Japanese staff with filings.
Individual tax topics covered will be:
• Who is required to file?
• Reporting taxable income
• Employer filings
• Assets reporting
• Recent/upcoming developments
Although primarily targeted at non-Japanese who are subject to Japanese income tax, many of the points discussed are also relevant to Japanese members. We encourage them to attend as well to learn more about current developments in Japanese personal income tax.
Brian Douglas, Edwin T. Whatley, and Marcus Wong, Co-Chairs
ACCJ Taxation Committee
