Let's give a warm "welcome back" to Dr. Stephen J. Anderson, Commercial Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo.
Dr. Anderson will be in the Chubu area for the day, and we have invited him to a breakfast meeting to give us the U.S. Embassy Commercial Briefing and to catch up with fellow ACCJ members. The Commercial Briefing provides a helpful insight into various industries that affect U.S.-Japan bilateral relations. Please contact the EAC prior to the event if you would like more information about a specific industry that is related to your business.
This is Dr. Anderson's second posting to Japan. In addition to his duties as the Commercial Attaché, Dr. Anderson has acted as the U.S. Embassy liaison to the Board of Governors of the ACCJ in support of U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy.
Previously, Dr. Anderson served as Principal Officer at the US Consulate Nagoya from 2002 to 2006 and has also served in Beijing and Dublin. During his government tenure with the International Trade Administration, Dr. Anderson managed units for the healthcare and life sciences industry, Internet and telecommunications, and other key issues that impact trade and investment.
Dr. Anderson is also an award-winning author: he won the Masayoshi Ohira Prize for his book on welfare policy and politics in Japan. He is also an experienced educator, manager, and communicator in cross-cultural settings.
We look forward to seeing you at the event.
