Event Overview:

Open source is everywhere and in everything.  Today, 90% of the world's smartphones are based on an Android operating system, 75% of cloud platforms run Linux, and 70% of the world's websites are built on WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal.  All, are based on readily available open-source projects.  As the growth of open source continues unabated, an alarming trend has emerged.  M&A open source audits have found that from 35% - 50% of the code in a typical software application is comprised of open source.  Of this open source, over 95% is unknown to the company releasing the application, and 67% of applications contain security vulnerabilities that have not been addressed.

Concerned?  Isn’t it time you learned more about open source software? Here is your opportunity.

At this talk, Frank Fletcher, Jon Hobbs, and Leon Bian, will discuss the reasons why open source software has become so popular, as well as open source licensing models, litigation related to the use of open source software, and the need to monitor the use of open source software to prevent security vulnerabilities.

Bring your questions and prepare for a lively discussion!
