Fifty years ago, humans first stepped on the moon. Apollo 11 launched on July 16, 1969, and Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon on July 20, 1969, with his famous phrase, “One small step for Man. One giant step for Mankind.”
The Apollo missions captured the world’s attention and inspired generations of great achievements, exploration, and scientific discovery. NASA’s goal 50 years ago was to land humans on the Moon and return them safely to back to Earth. Their goal now is to return to the Moon to stay, in a sustainable way, and NASA is working with Japan and other international partners to make this bold endeavor a reality.
The ACCJ will celebrate the Apollo 11 anniversary with a Moon-themed event at the Bauhaus Live House in Roppongi. We will have music performed by The Moonshots, remarks by Garvey McIntosh, the NASA Attaché at the US Embassy Tokyo, and some videos from the Apollo missions.
Come for a celebratory evening of music, film and networking with fellow ACCJ members.
