Foreign asset managers face an increasingly complex business environment in the United States. Greater regulatory focus, changing investor demand, new technology and shifting sources of investment returns create both challenges and opportunities for Japanese and other international asset managers. This event will review operational and strategic issues facing market participants in Japan and review cross-border regulatory developments and compliance challenges for international financial institutions active in Japan and Asia generally.
Topics will include updates on central counterparty cross-border equivalence, recent CFTC proposals affecting non-US commodity pool operators, experiences in cross-border regulatory exams and recent enforcement actions, direct and indirect impacts from Brexit relating to cross-border fund marketing, MiFID II and portfolio delegation, swaps initial margin phase-in recommendations as well as recent trends in private fund and alternative fund structuring for Asian managers.
