Come to learn how the banking business is evolving in Japan and how venture-capital startups can quickly partner with existing banks in a profitable ecosystem.
Japan and the UK are now the two most advanced countries in terms of developing an environment of “open banking.” Under Japan’s open-banking initiative, all banks must allow access to the proprietary data in a customer’s account to third-party service providers upon request from the account owner. There is huge potential for first movers in this area. Emerada was founded in 2016 to address this opportunity.
Fully licensed by Japan’s Financial Services Agency, Emerada has a unique and scalable B2B2B model. It serves as an online interface for banks and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), aggregates all bank account data of SMEs, and provides real-time, comprehensive cashflow analysis. This speeds up lending processes and allows banks to capture more of Japan’s $3.5 trillion SME-loan market. More than 10 regional institutions have already joined the Emerada platform.
This event is part of the Alternative Investment Committee’s Quarterly Venture Capital Series. The speaker will discuss the market opportunity in Japan and the pain points Emerada is looking to solve for lenders and borrowers.
