Walk Japan: How We Found Practical Ways to Help Revive Overlooked Regions through 25 Years of Meandering
How a Hong Kong University startup built a reputation as one of the best travel companies operating in Japan, and is now helping to revive the nation’s countryside.
Walk Japan is the pioneer of off-the-beaten-track walking tours in Japan. Beginning in 1992 with our innovative and best-selling Nakasendo Way tour, we were the first to successfully introduce the real Japan that often remains inaccessible for most visitors to the country. Since then, Walk Japan has created more original tours and been widely recognized for its work, including selection by National Geographic as one of the "200 Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth."
About the Speaker:
Paul first joined Walk Japan as a Tour Leader in 1997 and became CEO in 2002. Besides his work for Walk Japan he is also the President of a Japanese-registered travel company and involved in a number of local and national government initiatives to promote tourism throughout Japan. In 2016 he was made a Cool Japan Ambassador by the Japanese Government.
