Office Relocation Task Force

The Office Relocation Task Force (ORTF) will support planning for the 2023 Tokyo office move. Initially, the Task Force will engage members, leaders, and staff to gather input and determine essential needs and expectations for the ACCJ's next office environment. The Task Force will also evaluate available real estate options, consider document storage, plan for the physical move, and oversee the successful transition.

ACCJ Board Selects CIC for Tokyo Office Move - MAY 2023 UPDATE

The ACCJ Board of Governors approved the ORTF’s recommendation to select the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) as the ACCJ Tokyo’s temporary office space from Q4 2023 through 2024. The ACCJ will move offices by October this year, due to our current building scheduled for demolition.

CIC Tokyo is a cutting-edge innovation campus and co-working space located in the Toranomon Hills Business Tower. We look forward to moving to this inspiring office space, which will allow the ACCJ staff to work flexibly and create new opportunities for collaboration.

The ORTF hired Savills to analyze the advantages and disadvantages, including financial aspects, of shared and dedicated spaces. Savills analysis showed that a dedicated space is best in the long run, but they expect that the real estate market should open up next year with more and better options for the ACCJ to consider.

Based on that analysis, the ORTF proposed to the Board to relocate the ACCJ to a dedicated shared office space through next year, with the goal of moving to a permanent stand-alone office space in late 2024 or 2025.

Subsequently, after review of the shared space proposals made to the ORTF, the ORTF and Business and Financial Advisory Council recommended moving the ACCJ office to Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) in Toranomon Hills Business Tower. The Board approved the move from October 2023.

More details will be shared with members throughout the relocation process.

FAQ (as of June 1, 2023)

Why is the ACCJ Tokyo Office moving?

The ACCJ’s Tokyo Office lease ends on October 31, 2023. The current building will be torn down.

Where will the new office be located?

The ACCJ staff will move to a temporary office at the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) from Q4 2023 through 2024. The new location is conveniently located in Toranomon Hills Business Tower.

When will the new office open?

The ACCJ staff will start to use the new office space starting from October 1, 2023.

Why is the ACCJ moving to a shared office space?

Savills Japan conducted a financial analysis, with the recommendation to initially move the ACCJ staff offices to a shared office for cost-efficiency and to make the best long-term decision due to the current real estate market conditions.

This will allow the ACCJ time to find a dedicated space in a cost-efficient way.

Who decided on the new office space?

The ACCJ Board of Governors.

What facilities will be available?

More details on the space and other facilities will be provided as they are confirmed.
