America-Japan Society: Visit Real Japan, June 27
On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the America-Japan Society (AJS) is starting a brand-new program for working -age Japanese and Americans in or near Tokyo. A group of Japanese and Americans will visit together interesting places or meet people who are usually not so easy to arrange by themselves. From time to time, overnight trips will be arranged. The objective is for Americans that have arrived fairly recently, to gain a deeper knowledge of Japan and foster friendship and bonds, between themselves and Japanese of similar working experiences and/or age. 1. The first occasion will be as follows:

10:00-12:00 Briefing and discussion in English with Mr. Akio Fujii, Executive Chair of the Editorial Board of Nikkei Shimbun

12:00-12:30 Quick obento(lunchbox)
12:40 Leave the International House by arranged taxis.
13:00-15:00 Arrive at Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower, 1-3-1, Azabudai, Minato-ku, Tokyo https://www.azabudai-hills.com/access/index.html
Briefing by Mr. Yoshiyuki Murata, Special Executive Officer who has been in charge of the development of Azabudai Hills and negotiations with original landowners. A consecutive interpreter will be provided.
15:30 Depart by arranged taxis.
16:00-17:00 Visit Ms. Junko Koshino, world renowned designer and the recipient of the Order of Culture, 2025. A consecutive interpreter will be provided.

17:30-19:30 Supper at izakaya in Roppongi area (break-up around 19:30). Those who are willing may go to nijikai as they wish.
2. Those eligible:
-Americans under the age of 50 who are expected to stay at least two or three more years in or near Tokyo area. We welcome Americans who have not been in Japan for a long time and want to gain a deeper knowledge of Japan and make Japanese friends.
- Japanese under the age of 50 who are willing to make new American friends.
Non AJS members may apply as well. They are welcome to become the member after the program.
-Participants must commit themselves for the whole day. They cannot skip any part of the program. They are expected to share Email address and to be taken group photos which will be on the homepage or brochures of the AJS. Application form should be sent before May 29. The AJS will select the participants and inform them by Email around beginning of June.
From AJS, President Fujisaki, former intern Ms. Miki Tanaka, and current intern Ms. Misei Nagata will accompany the tour. Altogether less than 20 people will constitute the group for one occasion. The second tour will be in the fall. To widen the list of participants, one cannot consecutively apply for these tours.
3. Fees:
8,000 yen This will cover everything during the program including room fees, taxi fees, obento, and izakaya. Newly established AJS Future Fund will bear the rest of the cost occurring during the program.
