Communications and Marketing Assistant (Part-Time)

The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) is a unique organization with a 77-year history of working with the U.S. and Japanese governments and the world's largest and most influential companies to strengthen the U.S.-Japan relationship. 

The ACCJ is seeking a Communications and Marketing Assistant to support marketing initiatives and enhance our digital and social presence through written and visual communications. This role is ideal for a creative and motivated individual with writing, design, and marketing skills to convey the ACCJ's mission, key positions, and activities to various stakeholders. 

This is a part-time, hybrid position based in Tokyo. The candidate must reside in Japan at the time of application and hold a valid work visa for Japan. 

Primary Responsibilities

Marketing and Promotional Materials Development

  • Design visual marketing and promotional materials, including graphics, flyers, infographics, presentations, videos, posters, brochures (Canva and Adobe Creative Suite)

  • Edit event descriptions and create promotional graphics for events

  • Draft content for weekly member newsletter (Mailchimp)

Digital Content and Social Media Management 

  • Front-end website design, including refreshed content (Squarespace)

  • Create and schedule social media posts, focus on building and engaging online communities (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X)

  • Utilize analytics tools to track performance and make data-driven improvements to the website and social media strategy

Photography and Videography

  • Develop multimedia, including photography and videography for events

  • Edit video recordings of events, remarks, and interviews to be used for The ACCJ Journal, both the digital and the biannual print magazine, the ACCJ website, and social media channels

  • Utilize graphics and videos to convey key messages about ACCJ activities and initiatives

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Google Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), website management (Squarespace), mailing platforms (Mailchimp), video editing software (e.g. DaVinci Resolve, Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut)

  • Experience in creating content for social media platforms

  • Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team

  • Strong attention to detail and quality control

  • Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines

  • English proficiency required (Japanese language skills a plus)

  • BS/BA in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field a plus

  • This position is based in Tokyo, and the applicant must reside in Japan at the time of application.

  • Candidate must currently hold a valid work visa for Japan.

Time Commitment

  • 20-30 hours per week

  • Hybrid position (ACCJ Tokyo office)
