【To further expand Marine business, we are hiring an “Marine Cargo Underwriter”】
Dear candidates,
We are now looking for a highly motivated individual to perform the critical role of “Marine Cargo Underwriter” based in Japan. This position is responsible for managing the portfolio and developing distribution channels in a proactive way in corporation with his/her manager. Taking hands-on approach, this position should lead the efforts to analyze, accept or reject complex risks and further enhance profitability. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
> Maintain and develop the distribution channels to constantly obtain submissions and renewal businesses.
> Collect accurate information needed to assess potential clients and decide on the acceptable risk for a policy.
> Make a decision to accept, modify or reject an insurance application after scrutiny of all the required studies regarding the risk involved, in line with the STARR’s underwriting guideline.
> Develop new/modified products to meet the clients’ needs and boost the topline growth.
> Handle certain admin functions; coordinate with policy admin team to ensure accuracy of work performed incl. policy issuance, premium booking and filing utilizing the internal systems.
> Collaborate with the regional/global team and utilize STARR’s best practices for the local underwriting activities.
> Handle queries from agencies, brokers and policy holders. Negotiate terms and conditions with them as needed.
Qualifications:
> At least 5-years’ experience in the marine underwriting and/or broking.
> Extensive knowledge of the ins. products in the marine field (mainly cargo) as well as in other lines.
> Deep understanding about the local insurance market and regulatory requirements.
> Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to build/keep good relationship with stakeholders.
> Excellent language ability in both Japanese and English is a must.
> Ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadline/target.
> Experience in handling multinational insurance programs is preferred.
> People management as a manager is a plus
Education:
> University graduate or above
