While the US market remains a primary market for Japanese companies, there is a growing trend toward "Regulation as Strategy," as symbolized by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and economic security measures, where the government directly influences market structures and competitive conditions through policies and regulations.
Under these circumstances, we believe that Japanese companies must go beyond merely viewing and reacting to regulations passively. Instead, they need a mindset that actively connects their own business and technologies with US policy issues and national strategies, allowing them to engage proactively in the rule-making process.
Therefore, in this event, we have invited Ms. Yuri Unno, who has spent 25 years conducting lobbying activities in Washington, D.C., to learn the strategic essence of US lobbying through her practical insights.
Furthermore, we will welcome Mr. Masashi Adachi, a member of the House of Councillors, and Professor Emiko Nakabayashi of Waseda University, to discuss the ongoing debate regarding the lobbying system in Japan. Together, we will explore directions for designing a system that balances both ensuring transparency and maintaining practical effectiveness.
Please note that this event will be conducted in Japanese only.
