INTERNSHIPS

Website Development Intern

The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) is seeking a Website Development Intern to support the build-out of the ACCJ’s new website. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with foundational web development skills who is interested in working in a professional, international environment with experienced, creative communications professionals.

The intern will work closely with the ACCJ Communications team to develop and update web pages using an established design and template. This is an opportunity to work on layouts, functionality, and content integration.

This internship offers valuable exposure to the most influential international business organization in Japan as well as an opportunity to support U.S.–Japan relations while gaining professional experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build new website pages using provided templates and structure.

  • Update landing pages, integrate content, and ensure design consistency.

  • Ensure pages are visually appealing and functional.

  • Apply UI/UX and SEO best practices.

  • Communicate progress, challenges, and timelines proactively on a regular basis.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a university or technical program (or recent graduate)

  • Basic website development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

  • Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., Squarespace, WordPress)

  • Understanding of UI/UX design and web best practices

  • Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with Photoshop and other creative apps 

  • Strong attention to detail and quality control

  • Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines independently 

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to raise issues proactively

  • English proficiency required (Japanese language skills a plus)

  • This position is based in Tokyo, and the intern must reside in Japan at the time of application

Time Commitment

  • 15–20 hours per week

  • Four months minimum required

INTERNSHIPS

Communications and Marketing Intern

The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) is seeking a Communications and Marketing Intern to support marketing initiatives and enhance our digital and social presence through written and visual communications. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with writing, design, and marketing skills to convey the ACCJ's mission and activities to various stakeholders.

The intern will work closely with the ACCJ Communications team to create timely content that informs, inspires, and engages the ACCJ community. This internship offers valuable exposure to the most influential international business organization in Japan as well as an opportunity to support U.S.–Japan relations while gaining professional experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Draft content for weekly member newsletter (Mailchimp) and brief articles for the digital Journal magazine

  • Create social media content (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X) and use analytics tools to track monthly performance 

  • Update information and visuals on event pages on ACCJ website (Squarespace)

  • Update content for print and digital promotional materials (flyers, brochures)

  • Research media landscape and topics relevant to ACCJ Advocacy

  • Take photos and short videos at events

Skills & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a university or technical program (or recent graduate)

  • Familiar with Google Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), website management (Squarespace), mailing platforms (Mailchimp)

  • Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team

  • Strong attention to detail and quality control

  • Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines independently 

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to raise issues proactively

  • English proficiency required (Japanese language skills a plus)

  • This position is based in Tokyo, and the intern must reside in Japan at the time of application
