internship opportunities

My team takes several interns each year, and the regular cadence is a strong motivation to make sure that the senior ICs feel ownership of the team. My senior individual contributors are helpful and generous with their time, our onboarding documentation is up to date, and we have a comprehensive backlog of starter projects. The benefits are obvious– it makes it easy for new hires, and even for other teams to help us with temporary staff. We’re perceived as easy to collaborate with, and helpful to other teams. While the cost can be high, higher investments lead to better outcomes. We have had many productive hires come through the program, and my impression is that between the pipeline of talent and the improvement to team culture and retention, the program essentially pays for itself.
